Roseanna Fuller (1759-1844)
Roseanna Fuller was born on 16 May 1759 in Amenia, Dutchess, New York, as the fourth child of Josiah Fuller and Irena Dickinson. She had seven siblings, namely: Irene, Varsel, Mary, Josiah, Jeduthan, Rufus, and Joseph. Her name is found spelled a variety of ways including Roseanna, Rosana, and Rosanna.
When she was 20, Roseanna Fuller married Daniel Spike, son of Daniel Spike, in 1780 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. The couple started their marriage in Saratoga County, New York1, but moved to Cohocton, Steuben, New York sometime before 1820.2
Daniel Spike and Roseanna Fuller had the following children:
- Margaret Spike was born on 16 Mar 1781 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. She died after 1855 in New York. She married Pierce Brownell on 28 May 1797 in Schuylerville, Saratoga, New York. He died. She then married Andrew Alexander Simpson about 1804 in New York.
- Daniel Spike was born in 1785 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. He died in 1863 in Cohocton, Steuben, New York.
- Mercy Spike was born between 1785–1788 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. She died on 17 May 1857 in Sugar Creek, Walworth, Wisconsin. She married Freeborn Welch in Cohocton, Steuben, New York.
- Thankful Spike was born in 1786 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. She died in 1860 in Schuylerville, Saratoga, New York.
- Josiah Spike was born on 29 Nov 1787 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. He died on 07 Mar 1866 in Middlesex, Yates, New York.
- Sally Spike was born on 26 Oct 1789 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York, USA. She died on 26 Mar 1868 in Grove, Allegany, New York, USA.
- Catharine Spike was born in 1791 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. She died in 1855 in Grove, Allegany, New York. She married John Sheffield in 1810 in New York.
- Lucy Spike was born in 1793 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York. She died in 1850 in Vienna, Oneida, New York (Ontario County). She married Thomas A. Dillon in 1818 in New York.
Roseanna Fuller Spike became a widow on 11 Mar 1844 when her husband passed away. She was named in his will.3
Roseanna Fuller Spike died a couple months after her husband, on 26 May 1844, in Cohocton, Steuben, New York, at age 85. She was buried in Old Clearwater Cemetery, Cohocton, Steuben, New York.4
